Hello America, this is Jesus Christ, and on the eve of when many in America mistakenly celebrate my birthday and with a few short weeks before the Iowa caucuses, I'm here to officially endorse Barack Obama for President. Before I get into my reasons why I like Obama, I think it is important to talk about the other candidates in the race, especially the dangerous ones.
Many in America that claim to be followers of me are supporting Mike Huckabee. I fear that is a mistake. Mike Huckabee is completely devoid of compassion and wisdom. Not only is he untrustworthy, but he misuses my teachings to forward his message of hate and intolerance. Back in 1998 he wanted to quarantine those with AIDS. I would never agree with that. As many of you recall, I walked amongst lepers, homeless, prostitutes and various others rejected by society. I fed the hungry and starving. I healed the sick. Mike Huckabee lost 110 lbs. That's about the only thing he did that comes close to what I've done.
I could not in good conscience support Mitt Romney. First of all, he has told some fibbers lately. He claimed his father marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. I marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a man that preached a philosophy based on my works and actions. Also, he claims to have hunted rodents and other small varmints. What's up with that? It's one thing to hunt deer and other game for food, but who in America (that's not living in the slums) hunts for rats? Finally, he flip flops too much. How can you trust him? On the one hand, he has a record of supporting some moderate causes as a politician, but now he is trying to get the Republican nomination and he is pandering, unsuccessfully, to the fundamentalist crowd.
This brings us to Rudy Giuliani. He is a complete moral abomination. I won't get into his marital infidelities. How he exploited the tragedy that occurred on September 11, 2001 is disgusting and inexcusable. He was not a hero. Rather, it was his ineptness that complicated that day.
Others thought Fred Thompson was going to be the guy, the next Reagan if you will. Reagan was a disaster as President so I'm not sure that is a comparison I would even entertain. I think the Thompson campaign has lost its steam if it ever had any.
As for the Democratic contenders, they are much more palatable. I like Chris Dodd. He took a Jesus-like stance with his filibuster threat of the FISA bill that would have given immunity to the telecommunications companies. No one should be granted immunity. Everyone should get a trial, and it should be fair. That is a Constitutional guarantee. Dodd is also at the forefront of children's health. Most of you know where I stand on health care It should be affordable and available to everyone. The days of me healing everyone are long gone. As for Kucinich and Edwards, I like both of them because they are for the people. They are big proponents of affordable and available health care. They are pro-union. As you recall, I was a member of the carpenter's union back in my day. It is recorded in the Gospel of Chingy, which was one of the books that didn't make the New Testament final cut. If Hillary gets the nomination, I'm sure I'll support her, but I really don't trust her. She rides the fence too much, and I wish she would just take a stand and make some sense.
Barack Obama provides a message of hope in very troubling times. He reminds me of me. The administration of George W. Bush has wrought havoc on America and the world. He stands for the people. He believes in equality, affordable health care, sensible education, science, choice, freedom, a fair system of justice and a foreign policy that would exhaust of possible avenues before going to war. I can assure you he wouldn't send us to battle unprepared, without the proper equipment and weaponry and without a strategy of winning the war and winning the peace. People criticize Obama for lacking experience. I was 30 when I brought my message of God's grace. Prior to that, I traveled a bit and I worked as a carpenter. I think Obama has a good head start on me. Okay, so you're probably thinking, I didn't give any concrete reasons why you should vote for Obama. I didn't talk about his specific issues etc. Hey, I'm Jesus. Do I really have to give you reasons? Take it on FAITH.
Peace on earth during this time of year, and stop celebrating my birthday in December. I was born in the summer time.
